AMA Report Card Supports Need for RemitDATA Reimbursement Solution

RemitDATA tools help providers get cash from payers

MEMPHIS, TN – (June 20, 2008) – RemitDATA, Inc., a leading provider of web-based productivity tools and benchmarking to the outpatient healthcare market, today announced that its web-based reimbursement solution directly addresses the physician reimbursement flaws uncovered in the American Medical Association’s (AMA) recent health insurance report card.

According to the AMA and its National Health Insurer Report Card on claims processing, the inefficient system of processing medical claims adds more than $200 billion annually of unnecessary cost to the health care system. Physicians spend as much as 14 percent of their total revenue to simply obtain accurate insurance payments for their services. The report confirms this waste would be eliminated each year if third-party payers sent a timely, accurate and specific response to each physician’s claim.

Michael Sanderson, president of RemitDATA, says these findings underscore why healthcare practices need reimbursement strategies and solutions. "Physician practices should be spending their time on taking care of patients…not adjusting claims and tracking down the payment they deserve," he says. "RemitDATA’s web-based reimbursement solutions were designed to address this very problem. And, today our analytics services and tools help over 8,500 physician practices manage their collection process and improve profitability."

About the AMA National Health Insurer Report Card
The AMA's new National Health Insurer Report Card provides physicians and the public with an objective and reliable source of information on the timeliness, transparency and accuracy of claims processing by health insurance companies. Based on a random-sample pulled from more than 5 million electronically billed services, the report card provides an in-depth look at the claims processing performance of Medicare and seven national commercial health insurers. The Report Card was created as part of the AMA’s Campaign to reduce the substantial administrative burden of ensuring accurate insurance payments for physician services.
